What makes a theory a scientific theory?
A scientific theory has three main characteristics.

It has been tested

It is composed of several related hypotheses (more than one hypothesis)

It has scientific evidence to back it up

The theory of evolution has all three of these characteristics and therefore, it is a scientific theory.
If there is new scientific evidence, a scientific theory can be modified!
