Relative vs. Radioactive Dating of Fossils
Fossil Records
It is a collection of fossils and provides clues about things that happened in the past such as migration, the organism's habitat, date of life, and geological conditions like volcanoes, earthquakes, etc. fossil records also provides evidence for a common ancestor! It shows the gradual development of an organism changing to another.
Relative Dating
This type of dating depends on where the archaeologist found the fossil in the soil of the site. The lower you find the fossil in the soil, the more older it is. There is no lab work required for this.

Radioactive Dating
This type of dating is determined in a lab and gives you a more specific age of the fossil. The age is figured out by seeing how many atoms have died.
